What this download portal records, and what it does not.
Downloading requires nothing
You do not need an account, and you do not have to identify yourself to download Open Cluster Scheduler. This portal sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts.
It also makes no third-party requests. Every stylesheet, script and icon on these pages is served from this domain, so loading a page tells nobody but us that you were here. Pages used to load Bootstrap from a public CDN, which sent your IP address and browser to a company we have no relationship with; those files are now part of this site.
The one exception is the download itself. Package files are served directly from Google Cloud Storage through a short-lived signed link, so the transfer goes to Google rather than through this server. That is what keeps large downloads fast. Links to our source repository on GitHub are, of course, only followed if you click them.
What we record when you download
We keep a count of downloads so we know which platforms and releases matter. Each record holds:

Your full IP address is never stored. It is truncated to a network prefix before anything is written, and it does not appear in our logs. The full browser or tool identification string is not stored either; it is reduced to a broad category such as curl or browser.
These records cannot identify you and are not linked to any contact details. We keep them for 400 days.
If you choose to leave your details
Release pages carry an optional form for your name, email and organisation. Every field is optional, and the download works whether or not you use it. We store what you enter only if you tick the consent box.
Legal basis: your consent, under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. Because downloading never depends on the form, that consent is freely given and you lose nothing by declining.
Purpose: to contact you about Open Cluster Scheduler. Nothing else. We do not sell or share these details.
Retention: 24 months, after which the record is deleted automatically.
We also record which release page you were on when you submitted the form, and the exact wording you agreed to (consent-2026-08-25-v1), so we can show what was consented to and when.
These contact records are kept separately from the download records above, and the two are never joined. They share no identifier, so there is nothing to join them on.
We also record the date you submitted the form, but not the time of day. That is deliberate: a precise timestamp, combined with the release page you were on, would be enough to pick your individual download out of the records above and attach it to your name. Storing only the date means it cannot.
Your rights
You may ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to erase it. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and applies from the moment you ask.
Email privacy@hpc-gridware.com from the address you gave us, and we will act on it. Erasing your details does not affect the anonymous download counts, because nothing links them to you.
